Fire Ravages Delanco Dietz & Watson Warehouse

Roughly 20 local fire companies responded to battle the blaze, which broke out Sunday afternoon.

Several local fire companies responded to a fire that ravaged the Dietz & Watson warehouse in Delanco Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out shortly after 1 p.m. at the warehouse at 1000 Coopertown Road. Plumes of smoke filled the sky—visible from miles away in Cinnaminson and Delran—as crews directed jets of water at the roof of the structure, where fire had broken through, from multiple angles.

Dozens of bystanders stopped to witness the action on nearby roads, but were kept far away from the blaze by first responders.

According to the Burlington County Times, firefighters from at least 20 towns battled the blaze, including Beverly, Burlington Township, Bordentown Township, Delran, Lumberton, Maple Shade, Mount Laurel, Riverside, Tabernacle and Willingboro.

No injuries resulted from the fire, but area streets were blocked off and River Line service was halted between Delanco and Edgewater Park due to fire department activity, the Times reported.

An investigation into the cause of the fire would be conducted by fire officials from the township, county and possibly the state, Delanco Fire Chief Ron Holt told the Times.
