Grinch Steals AC Units on Christmas Day

Gloucester Township police said images of the alleged theft were caught on camera.

Air conditioning is not the first thought to come to mind on a day when the high temperature will struggle to hit double digits.

But a Gloucester Township police report this week announced the alleged theft of several air-conditioning units from the VPR Commerce Center in the 1000 block of Lower Landing Road on Christmas Day.

A video surveillance camera captured the incident.

"Just before 7 p.m. on Christmas night, cameras capture what appears to be an older four-door, light colored sedan, with a sunroof and dark bumpers, driving through the complex several times," police said. "At approximately 7 p.m., two unknown suspects exit the vehicle near the side of a building where several A/C units were once located, and then leave approximately seven minutes later."

"At approximately 7:55 p.m., a small white pickup, with a short cab, dark wheels, and a dark grill, backs up to the same area and two suspects exit the vehicle. The vehicle is backed up several more times, and then leaves the area at 8:05 p.m. with the A/C Units loaded in the bed of the truck."
