Man Drowns in Maple Shade Park

The body of a 59-year-old man was discovered in Steinhauer Pond in Maple Shade Thursday morning.

A Maple Shade police officer was flagged down by a person who reported seeing a body in the pond, at Ralph J. Steinhauer Park, around 6:43 a.m. Upon investigation, police found a body floating near the water’s edge, according to a report.

Divers from the New Jersey State Police TEAMS unit recovered the body from the pond and a medical investigator transported the victim to the Burlington County medical examiner’s office in Westampton. According to the medical examiner, the victim—59-year-old Daniel T. Donahue—drowned. There is no indication he was the victim of a crime or other foul play, police said.

Donahue was undomiciled at the time of his death, according to police, with previous addresses in Maple Shade and Runnemede.
