Man Kidnapped, Assaulted in Cinnaminson Basement, Police Say

The victim told police he was locked in a Delores Drive home basement for hours, assaulted and publicly humiliated.

Three men held another man against his will for hours, assaulting him in a Cinnaminson basement, and forced him to tell a crowded coffee house he was "a son of a bitch" before the victim escaped, said Tuesday.

A Riverside man told police on Sunday, June 10, while at an Edgewater Park coffee shop, a friend asked him to go to a house on Delores Drive in Cinnaminson to help lift a heavy object.

Once there, the friend, identified as 31-year-old Hakki Kumas, of Edgewater Park, asked the Riverside man to go into the basement where the victim's cell phone was confiscated and the door locked behind him.

Police said two other men—Erdal Kumas, 26, of Turnersville, and Serkan Canturk, 35, of Edgewater Park—arrived at the house and, with Hakki Kumas, assaulted the Riverside man. The victim told police he was held against his will for five hours, while the men assaulted him and pelted him with questions about his involvement with a relative of one of the suspect's wives.

The three men then dragged the Riverside man by his hair, loaded him into a van and drove him back to the coffee shop. There, the accused men demanded the victim publicly announce he is "a bad man" and "a son of a bitch" to everyone there.
