Maple Shade Man Caught Fleeing Hit-and-Run, Police Say

Also, a Craigslist ad may have attracted an ATV/motorcycle thief, according to Maple Shade Police.

April 13

Arrest (DWI), 3:33 a.m. — Police arrested Jonathan Steele, 31, of Maple Shade, after he allegedly fled from a hit-and-run in Cinnaminson, according to a report. Maple Shade Police responded to the area of Maple Shade bordering Park Avenue, in Cinnaminson, on the lookout for a fleeing vehicle. A Pennsauken police officer was also in the area and located the vehicle on High Street in Maple Shade with the help of a witness, police said. Maple Shade officers took over on High Street and arrested Steele. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving and released.

April 16

Theft from vehicle, 3:54 p.m. — Someone stole a red metal alligator-skin wallet from the console of a vehicle parked on the 100 block of South Holly Avenue, police said. The wallet contained various identification and credit cards. Maple Shade Police remind residents not to leave valuables in their car, and also to lock your car and set the alarm.

April 17

Stolen vehicle, 12:42 p.m. — Police said someone stole a 2003 Yamaha Quad ATV and a 1998 Yamaha Y280 motorcycle from the backyard of a home on the unit block of Lanci Road. The quad had been locked to a post; the motorcycle was in a shed, police said. The victim had advertised both as being for sale on Craigslist recently.
