Maple Shade Police Blotter

A Maple Shade man was arrested after abandoning his stranded car in a construction zone and police responded to multiple thefts.

Sept. 15

Fraud, 11:26 a.m. — Police said a Maple Shade resident realized he was the victim of fraud after he discovered his credit card was used twice, without his permission, at an OfficeMax in California.

Sept. 17

Theft, 7:32 a.m. — Police responded to a theft in progress at the former Office Furniture Outlet on Route 73 after witnesses reported seeing two black men in a white and blue pickup truck stealing an air conditioner unit and placing it in the back of the truck, police said. The suspects had already fled by the time police arrived. One of three air-conditioning units had been stolen from the building, police said.

Burglary, 10:37 a.m. — Jewelry, pictures and a Toshiba laptop were stolen from a residence on East Broadway Avenue, police said. The theft is believed to have occurred between Sept. 15 and 17.

Sept. 19

Criminal mischief, 8:11 p.m. — The rear passenger-side window of a white Ford Econoline van parked on Mildred Avenue was broken, police said. Nothing was stolen.

Sept. 25

Arrest (DWI), 2:41 a.m. — Police arrested Shane Patrick O’Brien, 30, Maple Shade, after he abandoned his car following an accident on West Chester Avenue. Police found the car O’Brien was driving lodged in the mud in a construction zone. The road was closed and under repair. Police took O’Brien into custody a short distance from the scene of the accident and charged him with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, driving on a closed road, and failure to wear a seat belt.

Sept. 26

Theft, 11:06 a.m. — Police said a customer at the Shell station at 2890 Route 73 North had their Apple 3G iPhone stolen. The customer told police they placed it on the counter, left without it, and when they returned it had been taken.

Sept. 28

Theft/Burglary, 7:03 a.m. — A toolbox with $700 worth of cooking utensils inside was stolen from a vehicle at Pickwick Apartments, police said.
