Marlton Men Arrested for Stealing $71K in Jewelry from Moorestown Home

The two men were contractors working at the home over the summer when they burglarized it.

A joint investigation between Moorestown and Evesham police led to the arrests of two Marlton men accused of stealing more than $71,000 worth of jewelry from a Moorestown home where they had been contracted to work this summer, police said.

Sgt. Lee Lieber said Joseph Lutz III, of Overington Avenue, Marlton, was arrested by Evesham Police Wednesday on an unrelated matter. During a subsequent investigation, Evesham Police learned Lutz and Christopher Fleury, who lives at the same address, had been responsible for a burglary at a home on the 800 block of Golf View Road, Lieber said.

Lutz and Fleury were employees of a pool company and were working at the home, the sergeant said. In mid to late July, the two men entered the home several times, which they had not been given permission to do, and stole multiple pieces of jewelry, valued at approximately $71,500.

Fleury was picked up by police later Wednesday and both men were placed in Burlington County Jail on $5,000 bail, Lieber said. They were each charged with one count of burglary and one count of theft.

Lieber said police were able to recover two of the stolen pieces of jewelry, valued in excess of $5,000, from a local cash-for-gold shop, but expressed doubt about recovering the rest.
