Moorestown High School Senior Critical After Car Accident

Brianna Wittman is supposed to walk with the rest of the senior class next Tuesday.

A senior is in critical condition following a serious accident in Mount Laurel earlier this week, authorities said. 

According to New Jersey State Police, Brianna Wittman, 18, was driving south on Interstate 295 around 3:40 p.m. Monday when she was struck on the driver's side by John Ropley, who was also heading south. As a result of the collision, Wittman veered off the highway and struck a tree.

She suffered serious injuries and, after being extricated from the vehicle by emergency personnel, was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden by Mount Laurel EMS. She was still listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.

Wittman is set to walk with the rest of the Moorestown High School senior class at . According to her Facebook page, Wittman is attending Evangel University in Springfield, MO, in the fall. 

Ropley, of Holland, PA, was charged with careless driving and an unsafe lane change and released on traffic summonses, police said.
