Moorestown Police say accused thief Steven Fischer has stolen tens of thousands of dollars worth of metal from homes and businesses.

A Moorestown man who police said is responsible for stealing roughly $20,000 worth of metal from businesses and homes was caught red-handed Wednesday, according to a report.

Moorestown Police got a call around 4 a.m. from an alert neighbor who noticed suspicious activity at a residence under renovation on the 500 block of Regenhard Avenue. Responding officers got a description of the suspect vehicle—a red Nissan Xterra—and were able to locate and apprehend the driver, Steven D. Fischer, 42 of the 500 block of Camden Avenue, police said.

According to police, Fischer was in possession of more than $1,000 worth of copper piping that he’d cut out of the residence and planned to sell as scrap.
