Moorestown Teen Attacked Man Over Backpack, Police Say

The teen, a Moorestown High School student, has been charged. More arrests are expected related to the assault, which occurred on East Third Street Sunday, Moorestown Police say.

An 18-year-old man from Moorestown is in jail after he allegedly attacked another man so he could steal his backpack Sunday afternoon, according to police. 

Moorestown Police said a 21-year-old Moorestown man was assaulted in the area of 70 E. Third Street around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The man was attacked in the course of being robbed of his backpack by Tyreek Robinson, of the unit block of East Second Street, police said. 

Robinson was arrested on Monday and charged with aggravated assault and robbery. He was placed in Burlington County Jail on $10,000 bail.

Robinson is a student at Moorestown High School and a member of the football team. 

Police said the victim, who was not identified, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Kennedy University Hospital in Cherry Hill by Moorestown EMS. It's not known whether the victim knew Robinson, police said.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests are expected soon, according to police.

Robinson was previously charged with defiant trespass stemming from a fight at the Church Street Recreation Center in February. According to police, Robinson trespassed after being given written notice not to enter the rec center.
