UPDATED: 12 Vehicles Broken Into Overnight: Police

Moorestown Police say in several cases rocks were thrown through the windows of the vehicles to gain access.

Moorestown Police are investigating a rash of crude vehicle break-ins that occurred overnight Sunday, involving a dozen vehicles.

Several residents of the Laurel Creek development awoke Monday morning to discover their cars had been broken into and ransacked, police said. Seven vehicles were already unlocked, while the perpetrator(s) smashed windows on the other five using rocks to gain access.

A pocketbook, along with small amounts of cash and change, were stolen from the vehicles.

"It's unfortunate they're causing some expensive damage for just very inexpensive items," said Lt. Lee Lieber.

He said the burglaries are similar to a recent string of vehicle break-ins that have occurred in the same general area in Mount Laurel, but there's no evidence they're connected.

Lieber said it's also unclear whether one person is responsible for the crimes, or multiple individuals.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything that could help police, or who has security cameras that may have captured the suspect(s), is urged to contact police at 856-914-3092, or file a report through the township website. Tips and reports can be submitted anonymously.
