An armed robbery, thefts, drug charges and criminal mischief kept police busy the past week.

Aug. 23

Theft, 8 a.m. — An employee of Meredith Paving Corporation reported someone stole several street signs, valued at $700, from the 100 block of Hartford Road, police said. The incident occurred sometime between 5:30 p.m. Aug. 23 and 8 a.m. Aug. 24.

Aug. 24

Criminal mischief, 3-6 p.m. — A student at Burlington County College reported a vehicle was scratched. Damage is estimated at $200.00.

Aug. 26 

Arrest (drug possession) — Police arrested Matthew Dibasttista, 28, of the 1100 block of Route 73, for possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia after patrols responded to the Rodeway Inn for a report of a medical emergency. Dibasttista was served with criminal complaints and released pending a court appearance.

Arrest (theft), 2:52 a.m. — Police arrested Surbdeep Singh, 20, of the 200 block of Burnamwood Drive for stealing jewelry, valued at $3,000, from a home in the 800 block of Union Mill Road. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Criminal mischief, 8 a.m.-10 p.m. — Police said someone spray-painted the rear of two residences in the 1500-1600 block of Ralston Drive. The total damage is estimated at $200.

Theft — A resident of the 200 block of Chaucer Court reported their lawn chairs, valued at $30, stolen from their deck area, police said. The incident occurred sometime between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 26 and 1:30 a.m. Aug. 27.

 

Aug. 27

Stolen vehicle, 3:30-3:46 a.m. — A resident in the 8300 block of Normandy Drive reported to police their 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, valued at $16,000, was stolen. The incident occurred sometime between 3:30-3:46 a.m. The vehicle was later recovered at the scene of a motor vehicle collision at 3:46 a.m. when the driver struck three parked cars in the 900 block of Coventry Way. The driver of the Jeep fled the scene on foot.

Theft from vehicle, 3:30-3:46 a.m. — Three residents of Normandy Drive told police they had several items stolen from their vehicles, including electronics, change and personal items, valued at $500. Police said the thieves got into the vehicles through unlocked doors. 
Criminal trespass — Police said someone broke into two vacant homes in the 3000 block of Fostertown Road sometime between Aug. 11 and Aug. 27 by forcing open a window. Nothing was reported missing. Damage is estimated at $800.

Armed robbery, 6:14 p.m. — A lone gunman robbed the Exxon gas station, in the 900 block of Route 73, police said. The station attendant was confronted by the man, described as a black male in his mid-20s wearing dark clothing, who demanded money. The attendant turned over an undetermined amount of cash and the suspect fled on foot, police said. Aug. 29

Theft — An employee of The Goodman Group on the 900 block of Pleasant Valley Avenue reported the theft of three central air conditioning units, valued at $20,000.00. The units were taken from the exterior of a vacant business property, police said. The incident occurred sometime between 9:30 a.m., Aug. 29, and 10:23 a.m., Aug. 31.

 

Aug. 31

Arrest (DWI), 1:38 p.m. — Police arrested John W. McCarty, 52, of the 800 block of Maryland Avenue, Deptford, for driving while intoxicated after he was stopped on Route 38. He was released pending a municipal court hearing. 

Criminal mischief — An employee of Aptuit Inc. on the 8000 block of Commerce Parkway reported a vehicle window was broken. Police said the incident occurred between 6 p.m., Aug. 31, and 8:00 a.m., Sept. 1. Damage is estimated at $500.00.
