New Officers Join Mt. Laurel Police Force

Two of the officers have military experience, and all three have previous experience in law enforcement.

Mount Laurel Police recently hired three new officers after experiencing two retirements and a resignation.

All three officers come with previous law enforcement experience, and two are served with the military in Iraq.

They are:

Officer Erica Aybar-Morillo, hired on July 8, is a veteran of the United States Air National Guard and served in Iraq. She transferred to the Mount Laurel Police Department from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department, where she served as a sheriff’s officer. Aybar-Morillo graduated from the Atlantic County Police Academy in 2012 and is currently assigned to the Mount Laurel Police Patrol Bureau.

Kevin Pluta starts employment with the Mount Laurel Police Department on Aug. 1. He previously worked for the NJ Department of Corrections and the Gloucester County Department of Corrections. Pluta is a member of the United States Air Force Reserve and served in Iraq. He has a B.A. in finance from Rutgers University. He will begin training at the Gloucester County Police Academy on Aug. 5. Upon graduation in December, he will be assigned to the Patrol Bureau.

Officer Patrick Taylor was hired on July 22. He transferred to the Mount Laurel Police Department from the College of New Jersey Police Department, where he served for five years. Taylor holds a B.A. degree from East Stroudsburg University. He graduated from the Monmouth County Police Academy in 2008 and is currently assigned to the Patrol Bureau.
