Pennsauken Man Charged With Multiple Burglaries

Carlos Luis Ruiz was charged with burglaries in multiple municipalities.

A Pennsauken man has been charged with burglaries in multiple towns, including Cinnaminson, Cherry Hill, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Burlington Township and Mount Laurel.

Carlos Luis Ruiz, 42, was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, and two counts of criminal mischief, Cinnaminson Police announced on Thursday.

On Jan. 31, Cinnaminson Police reported to the 500 block of Wayne Drive for a home burglary that just occurred.

A witness reported seeing a male with short dark hair and a thin moustache wearing a black coat and low cut style work boots carrying items out of the residence to a vehicle.

The person then returned to the residence and was removing additional items from the residence when the witness confronted him. The man became angry and advanced on the witness, according to police.

The witness retreated to her vehicle. The man left the item in the front door, returned to his vehicle and fled toward Riverton Road. The witness provided police with a description of the vehicle, which was then broadcast to surrounding municipalities.

An officer on traffic control spotted the vehicle, and a joint investigation among the police departments from the previously mentioned municipalities ensued.

On Feb. 14, Cinnaminson Police received a report of a residential burglary on Broad Street in Cinnaminson.

A witness reported that between noon and 1 p.m., he had observed a white male wearing a ball cap and sunglasses leave the residence and enter a similar vehicle to the one described in the previous incident. He left, heading south on Broad Street.

Finally, on Tuesday, Cinnaminson Police in cooperation with Cherry Hill, Haddon Township, Moorestown, Merchantville, and Mount Laurel police departments arrested Ruiz.

Ruiz is currently being housed in the Camden County Correctional Facility on $100,000 cash bail.
