Police Blotter: May 27-June 5

Police warn of warm weather scams.

The Moorestown Police Department issued the following: With the weather warming up, residents should be aware that transient criminals, commonly known as Gypsies and Travelers, are likely to be in the Burlington County area. These transient criminals historically target elderly residents with driveway seal coat scams and imposter burglaries in which they pose as meter readers, roofers and tree crews doing substandard work for excessive pricing and burglarizing the victim’s residence if the opportunity presents itself.

Be sure to ask to see permits and ID before contracting any work or letting questionable subjects into your residence.

If there is any question, err on the side of caution and call the police at 856-235-0130
