Police Continue Crackdown on Prostitution

Also, Mount Laurel Police make a slew of drug and DWI arrests.

Oct. 19

Arrest (promoting prostitution) — Police arrested Ozie G. Hammond Jr., 59, of the unit block of Glenwood Drive, Newark, DE, for promoting prostitution, according to a report. Subsequent to a police investigation, Hammond was charged with controlled dangerous substance violations, promoting prostitution, unlawful possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of prohibited ammunition. He was lodged at Burlington County Jail in lieu of $105,000 bail.

Oct. 24

Arrest (burglary) — Police arrested Amelia M. Davis, 28, and George J. Murphy, 31, both of the 500 block of Lumberton Road, Hainesport, for burglarizing a residence on the 100 block of Canterbury Road twice, according to a report. Police said Davis and Murphy were responsible for burglaries at the residence on Oct. 5 and 12. They were each charged with burglary, theft and conspiracy. Murphy was lodged in Burlington County Jail on $50,000 bail and Davis was served with criminal complaints and released on $30,000 bail, police said.

Burglary, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — A burglar forced open the rear door of a home on the 300 block of Walton Avenue and stole laptops and a PlayStation, valued at an undetermined amount, police said.

Arrest (prostitution) — Police arrested Shaneeka S. Curry, 22, of the 300 block of Yarnall Street, Chester, PA, after she solicited an undercover officer in exchange for monetary compensation at a hotel on the 500 block of Fellowship Road, according to a report. She was charged with controlled dangerous substance violations, promoting prostitution and unlawful possession of a stun gun. Vance C. Bowman Jr., 28, of the 100 block of Sheffield Drive, Willingboro, was also arrested and charged with loitering to commit prostitution, police said. Both were served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Oct. 25

Arrest (shoplifting) — Police arrested James D. Humerick, 24, of the unit block of Paducah Road, Eastampton, for shoplifting more than $70 in merchandise from the Home Depot on Nixon Drive, according to a report. He was served with criminal complaints and released on $1,500 bail.

Arrest (shoplifting) — Police arrested Desirae D. Hubbs, 28, of the unit block of White Street, Mount Holly, for shoplifting more than $90 in merchandise from the Home Depot on Nixon Drive, according to a report. She was served with criminal complaints and lodged at Burlington County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bail.

Theft, 1:40 p.m. — Someone stole a wallet and its contents, valued at more than $30, from a shopping cart at TJ Maxx on Centerton Road, police said.

Oct. 26

Juvenile arrest (burglary), 9:30 p.m. — Police arrested a 17-year-old township juvenile for burglary and criminal mischief after he allegedly arrived at a party and forced entry to a residence and damaged property, according to a report. He was turned over to his parents.

Oct. 27

Arrest (DWI), 2:01 a.m. — Police arrested Jorge H. Franco, 42, of the unit block of Split Rail Court, Hainesport, after he was stopped on Hartford Road, according to a report. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Arrest (DWI), 2:25 a.m. — Police arrested Sivaramak Mattukar-Harinath, 26, of the 2000 block of Wildberry Court, Edison, after stopping him on Route 73. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Arrest (DWI), 2:49 a.m. — Police arrested Joseph B. Conlin IV, 28, of the 1100 block of Sedgefield Drive, after he was stopped on Sedgefield Drive. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing, according to police.

Arrest (DWI/drug possession), 10:51 a.m. — Police arrested Steven S. Davis, 28, of the 100 block of Ark Road, Lumberton, after he was stopped in the CVS parking lot on Route 38. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of heroin and released pending a municipal court hearing, police said.

Arrest (possession of marijuana), 7:51 p.m. — Police arrested Sean M. Wilson, 19, of the unit block of Oakshade Road, Vincentown, after he was stopped on Route 38 for a motor vehicle violation, according to a report. Wilson was charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams), served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Arrest (DWI), 11:39 p.m. — Police arrested Ryan C. Dorofy, 31, of the 400 block of Rhode Island Road, Browns Mills, after stopping him on Route 38. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful possession of prescription drugs and released pending a municipal court hearing, according to a report.

Theft (Brittany) — Someone stole a $400 iPad from a residence on the 2600 block of Auburn Court, police said. The theft occurred sometime between Oct. 1 and Oct. 27. There was no sign of forced entry.

Oct. 28

Theft (Devonshire) — Approximately $300 worth of food was stolen from a basement freezer at the Willowglen Academy on Boothby Drive, police said. The theft occurred between Oct. 26 and 1:51 p.m. Oct. 28 and there was no sign of forced entry.

Theft (Laurel Place), midnight to 11 a.m. — Police said someone stole a side mirror assembly and switch panel and a laptop, valued at $600, from an unlocked vehicle on the 3000 block of Heatherstone Court.

Theft, 2:30 p.m. — A purse and its contents, valued at $100, were stolen from a shopping cart at the ShopRite on Nixon Drive, police said.
