Police: Handgun, Jewelry Stolen in Break-In

Mount Laurel Police also investigated an arson at Essex Place and arrested two people for prostitution at a township hotel.

Jan. 1

Criminal mischief (Brittany) — Someone scratched a vehicle parked on the 5400 block of Aberdeen Drive between 7 p.m. Dec. 31 and 9 a.m. Jan. 1, according to police said, causing an estimated $500 damage.

Jan. 4

Arrest (drug possession), 1:47 p.m. — Police arrested Anthony V. Masso, 20, of the 5400 block of Madison Street, Hollywood, FL; Peter Trapani, 21, of the 800 block of 13th Street, Belmar; and Justin R. Fromkin, 23, of the unit block of Gimble Place, Ocean, NJ, during an investigation near Route 73 and Fellowship Road, according to a report. Masso and Fromkin were charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams), while Trapani was charged with possession of heroin. They were each served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Arrest (prostitution), 1:15 p.m. — Police arrested Jay Hunter, 40, of the 500 block of Fellowship Road, and Kyeesha Council, 30, of the unit block of Cedar Avenue, Westville, at a hotel on the 500 block of Fellowship Road Hunter and charged both with promoting prostitution and conspiracy to promote prostitution, according to a report. Council was also charged with possession of heroin and cocaine. She was committed to the Burlington County Minimum Security Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail and Hunter was committed to Burlington County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail, police said.

Jan. 5

Arrest (DWI), 11:43 a.m. — Police arrested Herman E. Smith, 46, of the 6000 block of Wayne Avenue, Pennsauken, after he was involved in a single vehicle accident on Pleasant Valley Avenue, according to a report. He was charged with driving while intoxicated due to being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released pending a municipal court hearing.

Jan. 6

Arrest (DWI), 2:51 a.m. — Police arrested Joseph J. Serenelli, 26, of the unit block of Hawk Lane, Marlton, after he was stopped on Cornwallis Drive. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing, police said.

Criminal mischief (Ramblewood) — Someone damaged the door of a vehicle parked on the 800 block of Charleston Road sometime between 10 p.m. Jan. 4 and 4:30 p.m. Jan. 6, police said. Damage is estimated at $1,000.

Burglary (Birchfield), 6 a.m. to 8:25 p.m. — A burglar broke into a home on the unit block of Oleander Court by forcing open a dining room window and stole a handgun, an electronic gaming device and jewelry, all valued at more than $800, police said. Damage is estimated at $250.

Jan. 7

Theft — Someone stole brass backflow devices—total value $1,200—from the Aloft hotel, Super 8 hotel and Starbucks on the 500 block of Fellowship Road, according to police. The thefts occurred sometime between 7 a.m. Dec. 14 and 11:30 a.m. Jan. 7. The devices were forcibly removed from the exterior of the buildings. Damage is estimated at an undetermined amount.

Arrest (DWI), 10:11 p.m. — Police arrested Chakkapon Burudpakdee, 32, of the 600 block of Princeton Avenue, Maple Shade, after he was stopped on Route 73, according to a report. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Jan. 8

Criminal mischief (Ramblewood Apartments), 12-12:32 a.m. — Police said someone damaged the tires of several vehicles parked in the area of the 700 and 800 block of Country Club Parkway. Total damage is estimated at approximately $3,200.

Arson (Essex Place), 3:26 p.m. — Someone set fire to cardboard boxes near the rear of a residence on the 4200 block of Greenwich Way, damaging the vinyl siding and patio furnishings, according to police. Damage is estimated at $1,000.

Criminal mischief, 5:26 p.m. — A fire extinguisher was discharged into the pump room of the pool at LA Fitness on Dearborne Circle, police said. Damage is estimated at $150.

Theft from vehicle, 7-8 p.m. — Police said someone stole a purse and its contents, valued at approximately $1,300, from an unlocked vehicle parked on the 4300 block of Dearborne Circle.
