Police Investigate Extensive Break-in at Storage Facility

Maple Shade Police say 72 units were broken into at the Public Storage complex, though it's unclear whether anything was stolen.

Maple Shade Police are investigating a large-scale break-in at a self-storage facility.

According to a report, police were dispatched to the Public Storage complex at 460 S. Fellowship Road just before 8 a.m. Monday for a report of a cut fence. Upon arriving, officers discovered a section of fence that had been cut away, and evidence that a vehicle—possibly a box truck—had been backed up to the fence. The location borders the back of an industrial park, which is generally unoccupied overnight, according to police.

Through their investigation, police discovered a total of 72 units had been broken into, the majority of which were interior units. The suspects had either cut or pried the locks from the units and, in many cases, had pulled out and thrown about the property inside.

Police are not yet sure whether the suspects were targeting specific proceeds. Police are in the process of contacting individual victims.

The Public Storage complex does not have video surveillance.
