Police: Loud Party Leads to Food Fight on Front Lawn

Maple Shade Police investigate a bizarre case involving meatballs, barbecue sauce and ears of corn.

Maple Shade Police say a spat over a loud party turned messy when a pair of neighbors decided to empty their pantries on each other’s properties.

Police responded to the 200 block of East Germantown Avenue shortly before midnight Aug. 25 when a resident, who was throwing a party, found barbecue sauce on five cars parked outside. The victim told police the saucing may have come from a neighbor who didn’t like the noise from the party.

The next morning, around 9 a.m., police again responded to the 200 block of East Germantown Avenue to find things had taken a turn for the worst. The neighbor who called in the previous night’s partying reported their property had been vandalized and police surveyed the damage: Barbecue sauce was sprayed on their house and car, meatballs and eggs were thrown on the car, and ears of corn were tossed on the lawn.

The victim told police they believed they were targeted with this grocery graffiti for having reported their neighbor’s loud party the night before.

Police have so far not filed charges. No word yet on whether the five-second rule was applied.
