Police: Robbery Suspect Crashes Into Moorestown Woman

State police were following a suspect in a Bellmawr robbery when things took an unexpected turn Sunday night.

A robbery suspect veered into oncoming traffic on Mount Laurel Road late Sunday night, crashing head-on into a 72-year-old Moorestown woman driving in the opposite direction, according to state police.

A state police spokesman said troopers were following the suspect—31-year-old Jordan Hui, of Wayne, PA—after receiving a "Be On the Lookout" message for a 2013 red Hyundai following a robbery in Bellmawr.

A trooper tailed the suspect vehicle along Interstate 295, and onto Route 38 into Moorestown, though it was not a pursuit, state police said. The trooper was following at a normal speed, without lights or sirens on.

Around 9:30 p.m., Hui turned off 38 onto Mount Laurel Road and, for an unknown reason, suddenly veered into the opposite lane, striking a 2009 gray Mercedes head-on, state police said.

Police did not name the driver of the Mercedes—only identifying her as a 72-year-old woman from Moorestown—but said she was taken to Virtua Hospital in Mount Holly for minor injuries.

Hui was transported to Cooper University Hospital in Camden to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, state police said. He remained there in state police custody Sunday night.

State police said robbery charges would be filed by Bellmawr Police.
