Police: Shoplifter in Jail After Attacking Cop, EMT

Also, Mount Laurel Police brought drug charges against a township man after finding him passed out in a Wawa bathroom.

Oct. 19

Arrest, 8:03 a.m. — Police arrested Jay F. Carroll Jr., 35, of the 300 block of Inverness Court, Mount Laurel, after he was found unconscious in a Wawa bathroom, on the 200 block of Larchmont Boulevard, according to a report. Mount Laurel EMS took Carroll to Virtual Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. He was charged with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of a hypodermic needle. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.  

Arrest (shoplifting/aggravated assault), 7:11 p.m. — Police arrested Alyssa M. Adams, 25, of the 100 block of Hooton Road, Mount Laurel, after responding to Wegmans for a shoplifting. Patrols located Adams’ vehicle leaving the shopping center and stopped her on Borton Landing Road and Westfield Avenue. Lenola EMS responded to evaluate Adams, and during the evaluation she assaulted an EMT and a police officer, according to a report. She was charged with shoplifting, driving while intoxicated, two counts of aggravated assault and resisting arrest. She was served with criminal complaints and sent to Burlington County Jail after failing to post $20,000 bail.  

Attempted Burglary (Holiday Village East), 2-8 p.m. — A would-be burglar damaged the rear window of a home on the 700 block of Chickory Drive, police said. No entry was made and nothing was reported stolen.

Oct. 20

Criminal mischief — Someone scratched a vehicle on the 800 block of Cypress Point Circle between 8 p.m. Oct. 19 and 11 a.m. Oct 20, causing an estimated $5,000 damage, according to police.

Oct. 21

Arrest (possession of marijuana), 1:05 a.m. — Police arrested Edward M. Brown, 39, of the 7100 block of Lee Avenue, Pennsauken, after patrols responded to the DoubleTree Suites, on the 500 block of Fellowship Road, for a disturbance, according to a report. Brown was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction and police subsequently discovered he possessed marijuana. He was charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and lodged in Burlington County Jail after failing to post $750 bail.

Arrest (DWI), 1:55 a.m. — Police arrested Adam M. Watson, 29, of the 600 block of Robinson Drive, Ninety Six, SC, after he was stopped on Fostertown Road, according to a report. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Criminal mischief — Three soccer nets and a portable toilet were damaged at the Elbo Lane Soccer Complex, on the 300 block of Elbo Lane, sometime between 11 p.m. Oct. 20 and 9:45 a.m. Oct. 21, according to police. The damage is estimated at $1,500.

Theft, 10:15-10:40 a.m. — Someone stole a cell phone, valued at $500, that was left in a taxi by an Edgewater Park resident at the Greyhound bus terminal on the 500 block of Fellowship Road, police said.
