Police: Shoplifting Suspects Pepper-Sprayed Mall Employees

A group of young people suspected of shoplifting from Eastern Mountain Sports returned to the scene of their crime and pepper-sprayed store employees, Moorestown Police say.

A group of young people suspected of shoplifting from the Moorestown Mall returned to the scene of their crime and pepper-sprayed store employees Friday afternoon, according to police.

Moorestown Police said the four suspects—two men and two women—were in Eastern Mountain Sports Thursday afternoon when employees of the store noticed they were acting suspiciously. After they left, the employees noticed several North Face boots and jackets were missing.

The suspects returned to the store Friday afternoon, and the employees were keeping a close eye on them when one of the male suspects left the store, returned and shouted a profanity, before spraying a male and female employee with a chemical agent—most likely pepper spray, police said.
