Police: Teen Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing

Mount Laurel Police say the 44-year-old victim is in stable condition at Cooper University Hospital.

An 18-year-old is accused of attempted murder after police said he stabbed another man in the head and back early Thursday.

Mount Laurel Police said patrol officers were on the 100 block of Faith Court around 1:39 a.m. Thursday when they heard a woman screaming and found a man—later identified as Marquise J. Leggett, 18, of the 100 block of Faith Court—stabbing another man with a knife.

Leggett was taken into custody without incident and his victim, a 44-year-old Sicklerville man, was flown by helicopter to Cooper University Hospital in Camden. The victim is in stable condition with several stab wounds to his head and back, police said.

Leggett was charged with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a weapon and locked up in Burlington County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Mount Laurel Police and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact Mount Laurel Police at 856-234-1414, ext. 1526.
