Police: Township Woman Arrested for Child Endangerment

Also, Mount Laurel Police arrest a pair of young men from Philly who they say lied about an accident.

Jan. 11

Arrest (endangering the welfare of a child), 7:43 a.m. — Police arrested Alena Catlett, 45, of the 100 block of Canterbury Road, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and resisting arrest. According to police, while she was being taken into custody at her residence on outstanding warrants, Catlett resisted officers. A subsequent inspection of her home by the Mount Laurel building inspector revealed the home was uninhabitable. She was was committed to the Burlington County Minimum Security Facility in lieu of $27,500 bail, police said.

Arrest (burglary), 2:07 p.m. — Police arrested Willie H. Hymon Jr., 57, of the unit block of Washington Street, Mount Holly, for stealing from the Sunoco station on Route 38, according to a report. Police observed Hymon on Marne Highway and recognized him as the suspect in a surveillance video from the Sunoco theft. He was charged with burglary and theft and committed to Burlington County Jail on $20,000 bail.

Burglary (Larchmont Estates), 5-9 p.m. — A burglar forced open the rear window of a residence on the unit block of Sheffield Lane and stole an undetermined amount of jewelry, police said. A damage estimate was not available.

Jan. 12

Arrest (possession of marijuana), 9:20 a.m. — Police arrested Damian J. Gray, 36, of the unit block of Raysmith Road, Erial, after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Fellowship Road. He was charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and released pending a municipal court hearing, police said.

Criminal mischief, 9:15-10:15 a.m. — Someone scratched and dented a vehicle parked at the LA Fitness on Dearborn Circle, causing an estimated $2,000 damage, police said.

Jan. 14

Burglary (Larchmont) — Someone stole approximately $2,000 worth of stereo equipment from the Larchmont Swim Club on Larchmont Boulevard between 9 a.m. Jan. 10 and 12:45 p.m. Jan. 14, according to police. The burglar got into the facility through an unsecured window.

Arrest (possession of marijuana) — Police arrested Imari K. Thomas, 19, of the unit block of Crows Nest Court, for possession of marijuana after he was found inside a vehicle during an investigation for suspicious persons in the area, according to a report. Thomas was charged with possession of marijuana (under 50 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Jan. 16

Arrest (hindering) — Police arrested William H. Cooper II, 24, of the 2000 block of East Mercer Street, Philadelphia, after he allegedly lied to police about being the driver in a single vehicle accident on Elbo Lane, according to a report. Cooper was charged with hindering his own apprehension. Tyler J. Wardle, 19, of the 2000 block of East Huntingdon Street, Philadelphia, was also arrested after he allegedly gave police false information in an attempt to hinder Cooper’s arrest, police said. He was charged with hindering as well. Both were served with criminal complaints and released pending a municipal court hearing.

Arrest (shoplifting) — Police arrested Chloritha G. Magee, 39, of the 5500 block of Summer Place, Philadelphia, for shoplifting $250 in merchandise from Ulta on Nixon Drive, according to a report. She was committed to the Burlington County Minimum Security Facility in lieu of $3,500 full bail.
