Serial Rapist Sentenced to 28 Years in Prison

Kevin Cleveland's name will also be added to the Megan's Law list of sex offenders.

A Camden serial rapist has been sentenced to 28 years in prison after pleading guilty to a string of rapes that took place in 2012, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo announced.

Kevin Cleveland, 21, must serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. His name will be added to the state's Megan's Law list of sex offenders, will be subject to parole supervision for life and may be subject to potential civil commitment after his prison term ends if he is found to be a sexually violent predator.

Cleveland pleaded guilty in March to three counts of first degree kidnapping, three counts of first degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree robbery and second degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Cleveland admitted in court to the following incidents:

* Jan. 2, 2012 robbery of a woman in Farnham Park. This woman was not sexually assaulted

* Jan. 17, 2012 – sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl while armed with a handgun in Farnham Park in Camden.

* Jan. 22, 2012 – sexually assaulted a 20-year-old woman while armed with a gun in Farnham Park in Camden.

* Feb. 11, 2012 – sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl in Farnham Park. He threatened to stab her, left her naked in the park for a period of time, then returned and sexually assaulted her again.

Cleveland addressed the Court during the sentencing and apologized to the victims.

Two of the victims spoke as well.

“I have come a long way with the love and support of my family,” said one girl, who was 16 at the time of the attack. “But I fear walking alone in the dark, and my home is Camden but I will never be able to ride or walk anywhere near that area where I was violated.”

Another girl addressed Cleveland directly.

“Now today two years later I’m over the fear you gave me and I know now to always watch out for people like you,” she said.

Hope he's put into the general prison population while he's serving his time......and makes lots of new "friends."

I remember when Farnham Park was a safe place - back in the forties and fifties. Not any more! And this piece of dirt hung out there. He's 21 now - so must have been around 18 when he was attacking and raping. I hope he becomes somebody's "girlfriend" in prison.

Loretka, Farnham Park was never a safe place. Back in the Forties, a man showed me a flip book that turned out to show pornography. I didn't understand what I was seeing so when I went home and told my Dad, he put me in the car and went looking for the man. Thank goodness he didn't find him. Nuff said. As for this creep, not just somebody's girlfriend, but everyone's girlfriend. Sea
