Teen Dead Following Pedestrian Crash in Maple Shade: Police

This is the fourth pedestrian versus motor vehicle accident in Maple Shade in the last month.

A 19-year-old Pennsauken man died Thursday after he was struck by a vehicle on Main Street in Maple Shade Wednesday night, police said.

Maple Shade Police said the victim, Zachary Snyder, was struck on the 200 block of East Main Street at approximately 8:48 p.m. Snyder, who had been listed in critical condition at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Thursday.

The driver, a Moorestown resident, is cooperating with police and no charges have been filed at this time.

The Maple Shade Police Department Traffic Safety Division and the Investigation Division are investigating the accident. Any witnesses are urged to call Maple Shade Police at 856-234-8300 and reference case number 2013-18285.

On Nov. 1, 68-year-old Harold Carmichael, of Maple Shade, was struck by a car on North Forklanding Road near Main Street.

Just a few hours later, Aung Naing Htwe, of Maple Shade, was killed while crossing Church Road, not far from Thomas Paine Elementary School, on the Maple Shade-Cherry Hill border.

And on Nov. 8, 49-year-old Barbara Cooper, of Maple Shade, was struck by a vehicle on the 2800 block of Route 73 North, just before Route 38. She suffered a broken pelvis and was taken to Cooper Hospital.

None of the drivers in those accidents were charged.
