Threats to Staff Shut Down BCC Phys Ed Building

Authorities are investigating threats made against employees at Burlington County College's physical education center.

Burlington County College shut down the physical education building at its Pemberton Township campus Monday after threats were made against college staff, according to the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office. 

The threats, which were non-specific in nature, were sent to the personal cell phones of some of the employees of the physical education center Sunday afternoon.

The college closed the physical education building Monday as a precaution. The rest of the campus was unaffected, according to a release from the prosecutor's office.

Law enforcement officials are investigating the threats. The college has increased public safety patrols at the campus and a request was made to local law enforcement to patrol the campus.

The investigation is being conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department, the Pemberton Township Police Department and the Burlington County College Public Safety Department.

The prosecutor's office said Monday it could not release additional information about the threats.
