Vehicle Burglar in Custody: Police

Maple Shade Police identified the alleged culprit using a resident's home surveillance system.

Using a resident's home surveillance system, Maple Shade Police have charged a Philadelphia man in a vehicle burglary.

According to police, the burglar broke into a truck on Orchard Avenue on June 22 and stole money. The owner had installed a camera system after a previous burglary, in which his wife's pocketbook was stolen from her car in their driveway, police said.

Using an image captured on the resident's surveillance, Maple Shade Police—with assistance from Cinnaminson Police and the Burlington County Department of Corrections—identified the suspect as Nicholas L. Robertson, 35, of Philadelphia, and issued warrants for burglary and theft.

Robertson was arrested last week in Pennsylvania on other charges and is being held in the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility. Maple Shade Police will be serving Robertson on the burglary and theft charges this week.

Additional vehicle burglaries were reported—following Robertson's arrest—in the northeast end of the township. Police urge residents to lock their car doors and to not leave valuables inside their vehicles.
