Would-Be Burglar Chucks Rocks at Cops: Police

Mount Laurel Police say they caught 64-year-old Ike Williams, of Willingboro, trying to break into a Holiday Village home.

A 64-year-old Willingboro man allegedly hurled landscaping rocks at undercover officers when they caught him trying to break into a home, according to police.

Undercover Mount Laurel police officers were working an anti-burglary detail in the Holiday Village section of Mount Laurel last Tuesday when they observed a man attempting to force his way into a home on Bastian Drive through a window, according to a report. The officers confronted the man and a foot chase ensued.

Police said they arrested the man—identified as Ike Williams, of Roberts Lane, Willingboro—when he stopped to throw landscaping rocks at the officers. He was charged with attempted burglary, possession of burglary tools, aggravated assault on police and resisting arrest.

Police are investigating whether Williams was involved in several additional burglaries with similar MOs in Mount Laurel and surrounding communities, according to the report.

Williams was lodged in Burlington County Jail in lieu of $42,500 bail.
