Young Thieves Steal Cash in Craigslist Scam: Police

Mount Laurel Police say the victim was trying to buy an iPhone from two teens.

A Cedar Brook resident trying to buy an iPhone through Craigslist was ripped off last week, according to Mount Laurel Police.

The victim met two young men—described as one black male and one Hispanic male, 16 to 17 years old—on the 300 block of Tolerance Court around 4 p.m. Jan. 17, police said. The victim was responding to a Craigslist ad for an iPhone 5c.

Police said the victim handed over $220 cash, at which point the suspects fled on foot toward Equality Court without completing the transaction.
