5 Candidates Vie for Seats on Moorestown BOE

A former Mount Holly councilwoman, a recreation committeeperson and a former Army serviceman will join the two incumbents on school board this fall.

Five people will vie for three open seats on the Moorestown Board of Education this fall.

Incumbents Kathy Goldenberg and Matthew Simeone—seeking their third and second terms, respectively—will be joined on the ballot by Kimberley Kersey, Albert Panzarella and Joseph Ruccolo.

Kersey is a former Mount Holly councilwoman. She ran unsuccessfully for Burlington County freeholder in 2009.

Panzarella is a member of the township's Recreation Advisory Committee and a trustee with MooreKids. 

Ruccolo, a former U.S. Army serviceman, ran unsuccessfully for the board of education last fall.

Board Member Kevin O'Sullivan, who is coming to the end of his first term, opted not to run for reelection for personal reasons.

In other election news, Tuesday's primary went pretty much as expected. 

There was no municipal race this year, and there were no surprises in the other contests.

Burlington County Freeholder

Cinnaminson's Joe Donnelly soundly defeated challenger Stephen Silver (12,057 to 2,011) for the Republican nomination, while unopposed Reva Foster earned the Democratic nomination with 9,011 votes.

Sheriff

Incumbent Jean Stanfield fended off William Moore III for the Republican nomination, with 12,009 votes to Moore's 2,212. Democrat James Kostopolis ran unopposed and secured his party's nomination with 9,108 votes.

County Clerk

Incumbent Timothy Tyler (R) and Nancy Youngkin (D) earned their parties' nominations, with 13,027 and 9,128 votes, respectively.
