Former Burlington County Freeholder Director Bruce Garganio will return to the board following Leah Arter’s resignation, the Burlington County Times reports.

Arter resigned last week to accept a job with Burlington County College, according to philly.com.

The board oversees the college, although Arter stated holding a position with both entities would not have been a conflict. She told philly.com she was uncomfortable with the appearance of a conflict.

The Burlington County Republican Committee appointed Garganio to the seat over the weekend, according to the Burlington County Times. The committee also endorsed Evesham’s Joe Howarth as the Republican nominee for the seat in November’s election.

Garganio, of Florence, was elected to the board in 2009. He lost his re-election bid in 2012.

Amazing... Freeholder Director Leah Arter accepts a created position while tuition is increasing at Burlington County College and is then replaced by Bruce Garganio who happens to be the same person that the voters of Burlington County voted out of office. Residents continue to foot the bill for the decisions of the Burlington County Republican Machine. It is also interesting that Leah will be working on fundraising. Hopefully, the monies won't be wheeled to the campaign accounts of others.
