Five Things You Need to Know About Council’s Meeting Monday

A joint session on Moorestown's municipal complex progress is in the works.

1. Council approved the 2011 municipal budget. Two residents spoke during the public hearing before the council unanimously approved the spending plan. Read the full story here.

2. Two rounds of applause greeted the vote to preserve the Browning-Hess Farm on Lenola Road. Mayor John Button even called the move “awesome.” Read the full story here.

3. Town Council and the task force looking at the municipal complex renovation agreed to meet as soon as possible to discuss the project’s progress. Earlier, the council asked the architect to provide more details on the building’s square footage and the cost of renovating the current rec center. That information won’t be available before July 14, the tentative date of the joint session. Scheduling problems may thwart the planned July 14, 9 a.m. meeting, and an official date will be announced soon.

4. The Moorestown Garden Club presented plans for a pocket park at Main and High streets. Tentatively called “Percheron Park,” the site would include a tribute to Percheron horses, which were first brought to America by a Moorestown farmer. Check back with Patch Wednesday for a full story on the park proposal.

5. Council will continue meeting at the William Allen Middle School’s media center for the next several meetings, as the high school stage is occupied by an upcoming production of Hairspray. Council’s next two meetings are scheduled for July 11 and July 25, both at 7:30 p.m.
