Other facts

In several of my positions, I was trained in business and corporate management. I have done large and small construction projects in five states for over 25 years, e.g. I was the project manager for a 9,600-square-foot construction project in Williamstown. I currently own a company which promotes sustainable products. I have been lucky enough to particpate in projects and progams in the town recreation department, Moorestown Youth Baseball, the town school system, the Strawbridge Lake Association, and with the town theater program MoorArts, which benefits youth scholarships. I was chair of the 3rd Floor Committee, which for seven years led the conversion of the third floor of the rec building into a town youth center. I have attended council meetings since 1995 and when possible tried to contribute facts they could use to reach good solutions. I am lucky to be running with Brian and Mark, two smart and hard-working guys who care about the town. Lastly, I feel Moorestown is a great town where we try to make sure everyone is valued and listened to and my family and I have been lucky to live here.

Editor's note: The above information comes directly from the candidate.

I hope every single person who has bashed Brandon Pugh (19 year old college student who is running for school board) for not having a college degree yet has the same concerns for Mr Newcomer.
Margaret Engel September 25, 2012 at 10:56 AM
He owns a company right now??? He doesn't have it listed in his job section....... What's it called?????
Margaret Engel September 25, 2012 at 10:57 AM
I am a fan of sustainable products, interested to know!!!!!
Scott September 25, 2012 at 10:59 AM
I am voting for Garwood, Napolitano, and Newcomer. Greg will be the first Democrat I have ever voted for, and likely the only one. Good luck Greg! I can't support your running mates but you earned my vote.
C.S. September 25, 2012 at 11:05 AM
I wish Greg wasn't running with Hines. I have zero respect for Hines and the slimy kind of politics he deploys. Greg, you have my vote, but I wish you ran with better people so I could support your whole team. Best of luck.
Chip September 25, 2012 at 11:40 AM
Hey! I met Phil Garwoods & Vicky Napolitano and Pete Miller from the republican club at my door! When are the democrats going to pay a visit? Havent seen much of Greg or his buddies??
Sue N. September 25, 2012 at 11:44 AM
Greg, I will vote Republican straight down with the exception of you! (My other two are going for Republicans running for council though, sorry!)
Townsfolk September 25, 2012 at 01:06 PM
Scott, I would recommend taking another look at your third vote! Who would you prefer be on town council: Pete Palko, who has worked as President/CEO, Principal Engineer, Senior Project Manager, and Project Engineer for his own environmental engineering firm, who has an industrial engineering degree from Drexel University, or Greg Newcomer, who has been a project manager and truck driver with no college degree? I think it's an easy pick to go for someone who knows what it means to run a successful business!
Ann DiBlasio September 25, 2012 at 01:19 PM
You have respect and admiration for Greg, you are going to vote for him but you bash his running mate? So, you don't have enough faith in the man you are voting for to know he chooses an equally admirable running mate? Vote for those you feel will do the best for Moorestown and leave your name-calling out of it.
Red Alert September 25, 2012 at 01:26 PM
It's very, very possible to like one member of a ticket and dislike another. I personally will be voting for 2 from 1 party and 1 from another because I personally dislike one of the candidates. Are you saying people do not have the right to split their votes as they see fit? We all know that most of these candidates barely know their own running mates when they are selected, so I hardly think it's a reflection on them. Greg didn't choose his running mates personally, his party did.

Townsfolk, I find it disgusting you would argue that Mr. Newcomer is any less qualified than Mr. Palko as a result of his education. He has had a diverse background, and has clearly proven some managerial qualities. You may disagree with him on substantive issues, and that is acceptable, but please do not stoop to the level of insulting a man's educational background. It's beneath our town.
George September 25, 2012 at 03:27 PM
if he wuz a comunnty organzer hed be overqualfid
Tom September 25, 2012 at 03:30 PM
Experience trumps education all day long! There are millions of college graduates who have yet to have any work experience outside of being a barista. The candidates with the most real world experience in accounting and business will win.
Cassie Allen September 25, 2012 at 03:41 PM
I'm voting for Newcomer for his blue collar background, Napolitano for her education background, and Garwood for his community involvement background. At the end of the day I think that they make sense because of the diversity they would bring on board to town council.
Amy Tozzi September 25, 2012 at 04:00 PM
Newcomer may be a "nice guy" but he is supporting initiatives that would spend more of our taxpayer money! He wants to hire a $250,000 business manager that will do NOTHING! The tenants are held hostage by the high rent, something that council cannot control! I can't in good conscience vote for a guy because he is nice and donated time to the community. He supports spending money on solar panels, he is trying to stall our town hall project after we finally make headway because he wants it to be EVEN BIGGER, he wants to start a local television station..... The list goes on! Newcomer is a nice guy, but I'm voting no on the entire Democrat "Big Spender Team"!
Small Business September 25, 2012 at 04:03 PM
We need someone like Pete Palko to win, someone with real world business experience and know how, to clean up this mess and manage our towns financial situation.
This Is Our Town September 25, 2012 at 04:08 PM
Our town needs to vote Republican - small businesses like mine depend on it! WE built our own businesses, but the Democrats believe that the government built our businesses! It's time to take this town in a new direction with experienced leadership, diverse backgrounds, and ideas that can work! Garwood, Napolitano, and Palko for the win!
Moorestown Educator September 25, 2012 at 05:31 PM
I am confused. What role would Victoria Napolitano have on town council, for education? Are you confusing the council race with the Board of Education elections?
Lisa T. September 25, 2012 at 06:06 PM
Pete Palko is infinitely more qualified than Greg Newcomer to serve on Town Council! I would rethink that vote. He is a successful businessman, a community volunteer, and a tireless advocate for our kids. Take another look at Palko, he would be great for our town!

Good comments "this is our town", vote column 2
Lynne Schill September 25, 2012 at 09:51 PM
Greg and his running mates have my vote. I find it hard to understand why so many in town, who refuse to use their real names, have such petty things to say about people they do not know. I am sure the other candidates are very nice people. But I know these gentlemen, and they have all worked hard for all of Moorestown for many years. I don't know the others, but I have not encountered any of them in my long years in town.
Deb Marsh September 25, 2012 at 10:52 PM
Lynne Schill, you clearly havent been paying attention if you havent run into the Republicans. Town council meetings, historical society, church, home and school, moorarts, rec advisory committee.... These guys are just as involved as your three. Only difference is none of the Republicans have been rejected by our towns voters before.
