Haddonfield Begins Prep for Hurricane Sandy

Here's the latest on emergency leaf collection before the storm and other preparations.

From the Borough of Haddonfield:

The Borough of Haddonfield has begun preparations in advance of the forecasted arrival of Hurricane Sandy here late Monday, October 29 into early Tuesday, October 30.

High winds and heavy rain are anticipated, therefore the Borough will be sending out leaf trucks starting today, October 26 and through the weekend to clear leaves from areas most prone to flooding.

Not all leaves will be reached during this short emergency clearing period, therefore, the Borough is asking residents who have already started to curb their leaves to immediately pull back their leaves from the curb line to prevent blockage of heavy rain drainage and prevent potential flooding.

The Borough has been notified by PSE&G that they are closely monitoring the track of Hurricane Sandy and are making emergency preparations should the storm bring heavy rain, strong winds and flooding. At this time, the storm is expected to begin impacting New Jersey as early as late Sunday with the full brunt of the storm hitting the area on Monday and/or Tuesday.

Residents are encouraged to prepare accordingly with a supply of water, ice, candles, batteries and other essentials they may need in the event of a power outage.
