Last Chance: Tax Appeals Deadline on Monday

Get your appeal in by 5 p.m. Monday.

Property owners in Moorestown have five days left to appeal their tax assessments. 

The deadline for appeals each year is April 1, but since that date falls on a Sunday this year, property owners have until the end of business (5 p.m.) Monday, April 2, to submit their applications.

And that's the absolute drop-dead deadline. According to the county's Board of Taxation office, if you walk in at 5:01 p.m., you're too late. So get your appeal in sooner than later.

Moorestown has seen a , averaging between 200 to 300 a year since 2008, according to township tax assessor Dennis DeKlerk. 

He said 200 people filed appeals in 2011, and 190 were granted reductions.

The township will undergo a reassessment later this year to stem the tide of appeals‚ which have .
