Merchel Could Get 90-Day Extension as Manager
As the search for a permanent replacement continues, a 90-day extension will help bridge the gap.
Moorestown Town Council will vote on a resolution at its next meeting to extend Acting Township Manager Thomas Merchel’s appointment by 90 days.
Merchel, also Moorestown’s financial officer, has served in the role since former Township Manager Chris Schultz .
His original appointment to the post expires July 17, Mayor John Button said Tuesday.

“We have a search process in place, but it won’t be completed by the date the original appointment for Tom expires,” he said.
Following an executive session Monday night, Town Council instructed Township Clerk Patricia Hunt to prepare the resolution for its July 11 meeting. Council will vote on the 90-day extension then.
