Moorestown GOP Candidates Pledge Accessibility If Elected

In a "constituent relations pledge," Republican candidates Phil Garwood, Victoria Napolitano and Pete Palko lay out a plan for making town council more open.

To the editor:

We believe government works for the people and not the other way around. To that end, we have pledged to strengthen the relationship between the taxpayers of Moorestown and the individuals they elect to town council and increase our accessibility to the public. As council members, we pledge to:

  • Hold regular constituent relations “office hours” at the  or other public buildings

We pledge to have members of council set aside time outside of town council meetings to hear from constituents one-on-one, answer their concerns, and receive their feedback in a more personal, private setting.

  • Host yearly community meetings in all 20 voting districts of Moorestown

Our team will spend time hosting doughnut and coffee community meetings at homes or businesses within all 20 of Moorestown’s voting districts. These roundtable discussions will allow council to hear about the various concerns and issues facing the many unique neighborhoods within our town.

We will restructure our township’s website so that it better meets the needs of our constituents and is easier for all citizens to navigate and use.

  • Restore “Residents Requests and Presentations” to council meetings

We believe comments from the citizens of our town are too important to postpone until the very end of our town council meetings. We pledge to restore “Residents Requests and Presentations” in an effort to allow all citizens to be heard during an earlier portion of the meeting.

By implementing our pledge, we will create a town council that is more personal, accessible and responsive to all of our town’s residents. Our constituent relations pledge is a cost-neutral way for our council to engage in service to our citizens without further burdening the taxpayer. If elected, we look forward to listening to the ideas, concerns and input of all of the great people here in Moorestown to build a better future.
