Moorestown's Citizen of the Year to be Recognized Monday Night

The principal of the Merriken Financial Group will be honored for his multiple volunteer efforts.

The Moorestown Township Council will recognize William S. Merriken Jr. as the Citizen of the Year at its council meeting Monday night, according to the township agenda posted online on Friday.

Merriken is the principal of the Merriken Financial Group, an insurance firm that specializes in advising families, businesses and individuals with their long-term insurance plans.

He’s been an adviser since 1978, according to the firm’s website.

He’s been recognized by the Moorestown Service Clubs Council, which consists of the Rotary breakfast and lunch clubs, Lions Club and Y Service Club, as the Citizen of the Year.

His volunteer efforts include co-founding the Moorestown Lacrosse Club in 1988, coaching the Moorestown Soccer Club and being involved with the Moorestown Rotary Lunch Club and the Moorestown Community House’s capital campaign.
