News & Notes from Monday's Council Meeting

Some leftover items you may have missed if you missed last week's meeting.

  • Deputy Mayor Greg Gallo was reelected deputy mayor during last Monday’s , receiving unanimous support from the rest of his colleagues on township council. The term expires at the end of this year.
  • Council also made a number of appointments and reappointments to township committees and several professional service appointments, including:

- Thomas Coleman reappointed as township attorney.
- Mark Tarantino reappointed as township prosecutor.
- Christopher Baxter reappointed as township public defender.
- Alaimo Group reappointed for engineering services.
- Holman & Frenia, P.C., reappointed as township auditor.

  • Council approved a tentative 2012 meeting schedule, with meetings scheduled for the second and fourth Mondays of the month (with some exceptions throughout the year). Councilwoman Stacey Jordan expressed disappointment the schedule did not include workshops scheduled in between regular meetings—a suggestion she had made at a previous meeting—to avoid the difficulty of scheduling special meetings for isolated topics, i.e. the municipal complex, recreation improvement. However, Mayor John Button said he “fully expected” the schedule would be amended at council’s next meeting on Jan. 23.
  • Council met in executive session to discuss contractual matters related to the municipal complex project, but no action was taken.
