No More Smoking at Palmyra Cove Nature Park

The Burlington County Bridge Commission banned smoking at the park and the use of tobacco products on Thursday night.

Palmyra Cove Nature Park is now smoke free.

The Burlington County Bridge Commission banned smoking and the use of tobacco products in and around Palmyra Cove Nature Park on Thursday, the Burlington County Times reports.

The ban follows the Burlington County Freeholders' action last year to ban smoking in county parks, according to the report.

It also coincides with an ongoing discussion in Moorestown concerning the issue. Moorestown Council was to consider a smoking ban in township parks that was on the agenda before it was removed.

Mayor Chris Chiacchio has since said publicly he will not support a ban on smoking in township parks, and a majority of council agrees with him, with the exception of Councilman Greg Newcomer.

On Monday night, the issue was raised once again, with some residents arguing against smoking in parks and others arguing against the government continuing to take rights away from private citizens.
