Tax Playa September 17, 2012 at 12:16 PM
@Phil-Would you support pension reform to replace the current defined benefit plan with a defined contribution plan? http://www.njtanews.blogspot.com/2012/09/sign-pledge-for-fairer-pension-system.html What percentage of the muncipal budget goes toward pensions? I heard it was 5 percent. Is this correct?
Daryl Wilson September 17, 2012 at 01:27 PM
and as a follow up to Tax Playa, three questions; 1. would you vote in favor of a capital expenditure of $3.7 million dollars for a pet project that was not needed and only used by about 25% of our residents?; 2. a hypothetical, if you owned a store that sold football equipment in town or in a neighboring town, would you recuse yourself from a vote to build a new multi-million dollar football complex?; and do you think it's right to spend the first two years of your term as a councilman supporting a $13 million dollar project, including voting to spend millions of tax dollars on the project along the way, only to do a 180 and say that you do not support the project?

Ask the wild turkeys those questions

Democrats for "GNP" September 17, 2012 at 03:55 PM
Phil Garwood is a community leader who stands up for ALL of Moorestown! "GNP" is the way to go for those of us who CARE about the Recreation Center! For those who want a Council who speaks for ALL the people! Go "GNP" in 2012!
Townie September 17, 2012 at 04:04 PM

Garwood has my vote. I haven't heard a negative word uttered about this guy, no matter who I have spoken to. Seems like an upstanding family man, and definitely has a heart for the town.

I must say, I am liking the Republican ticket for town council. Very nice website by the way. I think they have my vote in November! Thanks to the patch for posting these candidate profiles, it really helps!
Christmas lights September 17, 2012 at 04:43 PM
I saw phil's website for the first time. Nice! We would like your sign and Romney sign please. Could you reserve one from the mrc I hear they are going fast? How about a real Christmas light presentation for Main St?
Remember November September 17, 2012 at 04:59 PM
Voters will remember the voice of reason that Mr. Garwood and his running mates have provided in recent months. Rather than divide our town, they have opted to stand with those who are tired of endless debate and mindless battles. They have stood for the people. They have stood for peace. This will be remembered, and this will be rewarded.

Good point, Last Call to Stop Obamacare, Vote Romney. This is a big deal. It is already making it a hard situation on our healthcare and the economy.
This Is Our Town September 17, 2012 at 09:25 PM
Our town needs to vote Republican - small businesses like mine depend on it! Go Garwood!
That mall September 18, 2012 at 12:37 AM
We need to rally the candidates together. How about a victory party at the mall with all the booze they could celebrate with? Sounds like a victory to me Phil! Go get 'em! If it's legal at the mall could we lease the space for a few hours from the one that jus leased it? Plenty of space I hear. Maybe toss around some footballs? Where is my Romney sign?

Phil has proven leadership and dedication to the community. He would be an excellent asset to town council! Good luck to all of the candidates, town council and board of education. --- Chris
Bob Gorman September 18, 2012 at 01:26 AM
Republicans have been in control for the past 4 years and 96 out of the past 100 years and their blue print for the future is the 3 Rs: Reign in Taxes, Reduce Waste and Revive Main St. I am glad to see they R's are admitting that they have done a lousy job for the past 4 years. Four years ago they ran on the 4 Ts: Taxes, Traffic, Town Hall and Transparency. Their record speaks for itself. The fact the Republicans have wasted millions on a Town Hall plan and have nothing to show except a hole in the ground and a non-transparent government with a solicitor that should be fired are good reasons to give someone else a try. Vote Democrat...Newcomer, Sattinger and Hines. www.results4moorestown.com
Ready to Rumble September 18, 2012 at 02:38 AM
Classy, Gorman. Use a candidate profile to prop up your two failed candidate re-treads plus Newcomer. And Town Hall is a dead issue... Misleading the voters? I thought you were gonna run a clean campaign? Thanks for bringing your Camden County politics to Moorestown.
Gobble Gobble September 18, 2012 at 02:46 AM
So what Bob G is saying is that Dems controlled for 4 years and that was enough for voters to make the Council 5-0 Republican again? LOL BAD argument Bobby! These three are fresh new and ready, you aren't running against Button. This Republican town is gonna stay REPUBLICAN.
Bob Gorman September 18, 2012 at 02:57 AM
Does the GNP team support the present town hall plan that was voted on by the present Republican Council?
SteveS September 18, 2012 at 01:39 PM
Bob, GNP is running a positive campaign with forward thinking. We can't live in your past and Moorestown can't afford to have people on Council who insist on re-living issues of the past. Join our team and support our blue print for the future. BTW we can promise you we won't comment on your candidate's profiles. To paraphrase the great Ron Burgundy "Stay Classy Moorestown!"
Democrats for "GNP" September 18, 2012 at 03:00 PM
We have better Democrats than Mr Hines! But you and your inner circle decided he was "good enough"! But we in Moorestown have "had enough"! Democrats can do better than returning us to the times of 4 years ago when this whole town hall mess began under the MOORESTOWN DEMOCRATS! Time for new leaders! Time for "GNP" in 2012! www.gnp2012.com ! Vote Democrat until you get to the bottom, then move your finger over to column TWO and vote "GNP"!
Red Alert September 18, 2012 at 03:27 PM
Local officials have no real say in the pension battle.
Red Alert September 18, 2012 at 03:29 PM
A positive campaign? What a novel idea. I like it in theory, let's see if you can stick to it in practice.
Red Alert September 18, 2012 at 03:31 PM
Trying to tie these three new candidates to the current 3 in office is just as bad as the Democrats who are still blaming George W. Bush. Try rolling out your own ideas, see how that works. Stop treating us like we are stupid, Mr. G. I am voting for one of your three and two of the other team. Why? Because they are the only three I trust at the moment. Don't give me a reason to reconsider my vote for your one.
Pam Longo September 18, 2012 at 03:46 PM
He earned my vote!
SteveS September 18, 2012 at 03:55 PM
Red, we will earn that third vote of yours. We intend on staying on message and keeping upbeat as our campaign progresses, let's hope our opponents can do the same.
Red Alert September 18, 2012 at 03:58 PM
I look forward to seeing how the next 2 months go.
Joe Johnson September 18, 2012 at 05:01 PM
Garwood, Napolitano, and Palko are the right choice this year. As a team, they bring diversity, experience, and fresh ideas to the race. I am excited to be voting for them.
G. Williams September 19, 2012 at 06:20 PM
There is ample evidence that all of the candidates for town council are dedicated volunteers, well qualified, and would strive to do well for Moorestown, albeit, I do not agree with all that the Democrat candidates propose. My underlying reasons for supporting the three republican candidates go beyond the borders of Moorestown. When I see a state government that has been rife with corruption (countless indictments), and who serve under the strong arm of union leaders who have brought us to edge of disaster; When I personally feel the wrath of state regulations, unpresidented taxation, and a legislature who has only distain for business and industry, It Is more than a coincidence that the State of NJ has been in Democrat control for almost all of the last century. I would need to take a seditive before discussing details of what I feel towards the national Democrat party, headed by Wasserman, Pelosi, Ried and Obama. Suffice it to say, they are systematically destroying the american dream, and undermining our self-esteem and pride as a country. They have divided us against ourselves with class warfare, and have brought us to mediocrity and even disappointment among our peer nations. While I do respect our local Democrat candidates, why would I in any way, add to the strength and control of the state and national socialist, I mean, democrat party. Sorry fellas, good people, wrong party.

As I fly over town, I've noticed the GNP presence throughout town. The candidates and their "helpers" have knocked on doors, passed out town info, places those noticeable green signs, etc. But where are those wild turkeys?
