Special Budget Meeting Planned

Monday's regular council meeting will be preceded by a discussion of the township budget.

Township council will hold a special meeting to discuss the 2012 township budget prior to its regular meeting Monday.

included a 2.6¢ increase in the tax rate—translating to a $137.74 tax increase for a home assessed at the township average of $529,800. However, through a combination of spending cuts and finding additional revenue, township manager Scott Carew said last week, “What we present to council going forward will be significantly less than that, if not down to zero.”

The special meeting begins at 6 p.m. Monday in the auditorium, with the regular meeting kicking off at 7:30 p.m.
