What You Missed from This Week's Council Meeting ...

The township attorney (sort of) provides an update on the East Gate liquor license lawsuit, council decides to move its meeting location starting in June, and more.

For those who couldn’t make it to Monday night’s township council meeting, there were a few items on the agenda that didn’t make it into a full story, but were nonetheless noteworthy. Here a few leftover tidbits from the meeting:

  • Starting June 11, township council will begin holding its meetings in the Instrumental (IT) Room at . Council has struggled with sound issues since moving its meetings to the auditorium at . Township manager Scott Carew said the space at the high school will be much more accommodating. To get to the IT room, enter the high school from the side facing the .
  • Rick Ragan, principal of Ragan Design Group, will give a presentation at next week’s meeting to bring council up to speed on the status of the municipal complex project, Carew said. The last public update on the status of town hall was at a .
  • Township attorney Thomas Coleman told council he would be having a conference call Tuesday with attorneys for East Gate Square and Judge Ronald Bookbinder regarding . However, later in the week Coleman said nothing has been resolved yet and the case was “still in the discovery phase,” with both sides still seeking information. Asked whether the township would be able to bid any licenses before the lawsuit is resolved, Coleman acknowledged the case is “complicating that situation.”
  • Council is expected to hold a public hearing Monday to discuss to pay for improvements to . At its May 14 meeting, council authorized bonding to pay for improvements to Pryor Park ($445,000) and new lighting at Jeff Young and Maple Dawson parks ($455,000).
