UPDATE: Moorestown Friends Finish 3rd in Consumer Bowl

The Friends School has been South Jersey's top winner the last two years.

UPDATE: finished third at the High School Consumer Bowl finals in Trenton Monday.

Though the Friends School was bested by Irvington High School, which placed first, and Freehold Township High School, MFS still ranks above 90 other teams that competed in the Consumer Bowl this year.

, one of the top three teams in the state, is competing in the High School Consumer Bowl final today in Trenton.

The state Division of Consumer Affairs’ (DCA) 16th annual Consumer Bowl competition began with more than 90 high school teams. Only Moorestown Friends, Irvington High School (Essex County, representing North Jersey) and Freehold Township High School (Monmouth County, representing Central Jersey) remain.

The competition promises to be fierce this year, according to a release from the DCA. Freehold Township High School is the defending champion, having won the 2011 Consumer Bowl. Irvington High School was the 2010 victor. And Moorestown Friends School has been .  

The Consumer Bowl features a game-show format to test students’ knowledge of consumer rights and issues. Topics include Ponzi schemes and investment fraud, the purchase and leasing of new and used vehicles, regulated businesses such as health clubs, consumers’ rights when making retail purchases, and general knowledge of the state’s consumer protection laws and regulations.
