Moorestown Rotary Awards $22K in College Scholarships

Eleven Moorestown High School seniors were honored by the Rotary earlier this month.

The Rotary Club of Moorestown awarded a total of $22,000 in college scholarships to 11 students earlier this month.

The students were honored during the Rotary Club’s lunch meeting on June 14, where Rotarians heard from the students about their college of choice and their majors. They were each given $2,000. Rotarians enjoyed the opportunity to give “happy dollars” for those colleges where they themselves had attended.

“The scholarship recipients were selected on the basis of scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities and financial need,” said Jeremy Countess, chair of the Scholarship Selection Committee.

In , the Rotary Club of Moorestown has awarded $509,000 to promising and deserving high school seniors. Rotarians raise funds for the scholarships through community services projects such as the , held the first Saturday in June, the in early March, and the Travel Adventure Series held throughout the year.

Business owners and employees interested in community service and fellowship are welcome to attend the club’s meetings at 12:15 p.m. every Thursday in the ballroom. The club meets weekly to enjoy fellowship, report on current club activities and hear speakers from a variety of non-profit, fundraising and community event leaders.
