Prizes, Fashion and Fun at OLGC Fundraiser

Tickets are still available for the fashion show next Thursday, which is expected to raise roughly $60,000 for Our Lady of Good Counsel School.

It’s not too late to buy tickets to —the PTA’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

Co-chair Kellie Kiefner, who organized this year’s 54th annual fashion show with Angela Capozzoli, said the event raised $60,000 last year—mostly thanks to generous sponsors and the show’s popular prize baskets and silent auction.

Kiefner said they have about 60 prize baskets, also known as “tombolas,” available this year, containing items like Hall of Fame Club tickets to a Phillies game and thousands of dollars worth of gift certificates for restaurants and hotel stays at the Shore.

The silent auction will feature a number of sports-themed prizes, including a Cliff Lee-autographed baseball and a Mike Schmidt-autographed bat, as well as a one-week stay at a Stone Harbor home and a tour of the Capitol with Congressman Jon Runyan.

All proceeds from the event benefit , Kiefner said. “For everyone to come together and support us like this, it’s great. It means a lot.”

She said the PTA is shooting for another $60,000 (or more) this year, and with between 400-500 women expected at the event, it shouldn’t be hard to reach that goal.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. at with a cocktail hour, followed by the 8th grade fashion show at 7 p.m., where OLGC students take to the stage with their parents to model fashions from local merchants.

“It’s really fun. They have a good time,” Kiefner said.

The formal fashion show—featuring professional models from Barbara O’Connor Productions in Haddon Heights, modeling Marlene’s Dress Shoppe in Collingswood—begins after the 8th grade show.

Tickets to the event are $60 and include dinner, entry for a door prize and the fashion show. To purchase tickets, contact Nancy Sheppard at 856-914-0030 or email shep715@comcast.net.
