Roberts Students' Revolutionary Way of Learning

Thanks to the help of volunteers, the third graders put on a play to help them learn about Moorestown during the American Revolution.

To enhance their learning about Moorestown’s role in the Revolutionary War, students in teacher Susan Powell’s third grade class put on a play last week called “Sybil Ludington’s Midnight Ride.”

Powell said the students “seem to be fascinated with this time period.”

The play was made possible through the time and effort of the school’s teaching staff—including music teacher Laura Dishong—students and parents/grandparents. Families were supportive as the students mastered their lines for the play, Powell said.

In addition, many parents/grandparents spent countless hours lending extra help, including sharing theatrical ideas and assisting with stage direction during rehearsals. The set came to life through the artistic efforts of Sarah Cannavo, a Roberts parent who is , and grandmother Patti Tidemann designed and sewed all of the costumes.
