Still No Deal Between BOE, MEA

Sides will meet with fact finder March 28.

The Moorestown Board of Education and the Moorestown Education Association met for another negotiations meeting Tuesday night.

Board Member Linda Alexandroff said the Board offered the MEA a settlement based on the recently concluded MAA settlement of 0 percent, 2 percent and 2 percent with benefit concessions by the union.

The MEA did not accept the offer as presented, Alexandroff said.

The two sides have met 14 times since Feb. 22, 2010. They will meet again on March 28 with the state-appointed fact finder.

“The Board of Education has offered a variety of proposals over the last year as has the MEA,” said Alexandroff.  “Everyone agrees that these are hard times.”

Alexandroff noted that the meetings have been cordial.

“We keep the public’s interest in mind and are having a hard time coming to an agreement,” she said. “We are looking forward to finding a solution to the contract.”

The MEA had no comment about the negotiations at this time.
