Want to Know What Your Kids Are Doing in School?

The Moorestown Education Association's revamped website gives parents a chance to see how students—and their teachers—spend their day.

“How was school today?”

“Fine.”

“What did you do?”

“Nothing.”

If this is what afterschool conversations sound like in your home, the Moorestown Education Association (MEA) can help.

The MEA has had its own website for years, but it was primarily used internally by members of the faculty, said middle school teacher Tara Kortman. Earlier this year however, members of the union decided the page needed a facelift.

“We wanted to expand the website to the rest of the community to highlight what was going on inside the classroom and what was going on in our member’s lives,” said Kortman, who helped with the redesign and is responsible for updating the page. “It’s important for everyone to see what’s going on in the lives of the children of Moorestown, what they’re exposed to.”

Curious about what activities your elementary school-age children are doing in class? Interested in what kind of professional development the teachers were involved in over the summer? Want to know what the Madrigals have been up to? It’s all on the website.

Kortman said the new site is still in its infancy, and as time goes by the MEA plans to add more and more diverse information. For the time being, the website’s primary focus is on classroom activities.

“It was really so people could see on a more focused level the positive things that are going on inside our classrooms,” she said.

The site is sponsored solely by the MEA—no taxpayer money is or was involved in the redesign.
